Sunset on a frozen lake in the Canadian Rockies can be a stark yet beautiful scene. Abraham Lake is covered in thick ice in the winter. When the water level drops in this David Thompson Country reservoir, the ice flows and cracks forming all kinds of shapes and patterns. I attempted to emphasize the starkness and detail of this photograph using black and white, but colorized parts of it with the natural blue of the ice.
