I love the small outlet creek at Johnson Lake, near Banff, in the winter time. Its combination of narrow, fast-flowing water and steep-ish tumble of rocks generally makes for open areas ringed about with some really nice ice formations. With luck, there might even be an American Dipper hanging around... though I didn't find one this time out. But that's okay, since the chaotic shapes created by dynamic water extending & freezing in these lattice works are more than fascinating enough.
