I am a photographer based in Calgary, Alberta. This places me amidst some of the most amazing terrain in the world, from the Canadian Rockies and prairies, to the northern Boreal forest and southern badlands. While I love to photograph around my own stomping grounds, I also enjoy traveling and have a particular attraction to the American Southwest and the UK. I call my work "Vivid Aspect Photography", and it is my goal to create rich interpretations of the world -- fine art photographs that I hope will resonate with viewers.

Please also visit my main web site at www.vividaspectphoto.com, and follow my blog at blog.vividaspectphoto.com.

I am an accredited member of the Professional Photographers of Canada association, and also a juried member of the Alberta Society of Artists. I am a founder of The IRIS Photographic Society of Alberta. I am a member of the editorial team at NatureScapes.Net, a premier online resource for nature photographers where I write articles and contribute in the photography and discussion forums. I also contribute photographs and articles to other Internet and print publications. Some of my publication credits include Outdoor Photography Canada, Photo Life magazine, Audubon’s American Birds, and Birder’s World. My images have been used by several conservation organizations, and I have been interviewed by CBC Television, the Calgary Herald and others on various nature and photography stories.

My photography is based on digital cameras and processing in the digital darkroom. The advent of digital photography has brought an incredible degree of expression and control into the hands of the photographer-as-artist. In my digital photography work, I frequently use panoramic image stitching, black and white conversions, and a technique called High Dynamic Range Imaging. With all of these techniques, my goal is to produce an image that honors the photorealism of historical film photography, balanced with my own creative interpretation of the world.

I also venture into works of digital art. These begin with photographic images as their source material, but use extensive compositing, filtering and digital painting techniques to produce an image that is more of a purely created artwork.
