Artist's Description

In all likelihood I am projecting my own happiness onto the ice, but "blue" is often a synonym for sadness and the situation was anything but sad. Ice-walking up the frozen river at the bottom of Maligne Canyon near Jasper presented many intriguing visual treats. However none were more fascinating than a large area of ice covering a waterfall down the canyon face. With unseasonably warm temperatures, running water cascaded behind the main sheets of ice, forming intricate patterns that gleamed with a pale blue color, used to tint the black and white image.
